So we did. We bought a heap of stamps online and waited 10 days for them to arrive. We then received a card from the postman. It said that we were out when they called so we must come to the post office to pick up your stamps. So went to the post office, queued and picked up our stamps. Brilliant.
Royal Mail and Paypal also now sell postage you can print, stick on yourself and post. On the occasions I've used it, there's been some irregular item to send and it has been brilliant. There is a requirement to post the items within a day which may be inconvienient at times. In that case do order your post after midnight to get the benefit of extra time to post the item.
